Alex Perry Spring Summer 2012-2013

March 2012, the demure gowns from Australian designer Alex Perry's Spring/Summer 2012/2013 collection were presented to a crowd of media and buyers to end day 2 of LMFF.
The collection housed multiple monochrome pieces, along with nude shades, a few red numbers and we were also introduced to a pastel lime piece which looked fabulous.

With the crowd excited about Day 2 of LMFF and ready to embrace the long weekend, the atmosphere was electric before the show have even begun. Front row guests included friends of the festival Nova’s Lauren Brain and Raww Blog’s Micah Gianelli, as well as Miss Universe Australia Scherri-Lee Biggs and the gorgeous Megan Gale.
As the show began it revealed a collection a far cry from Spring/Summer of last year, which featured bold colours and structured necklines (almost impossible for anyone but flat chested girls to wear) – overall it had a modern oriental feel.

This year was made up of neutrals, some black, the occasional striking red and a dash of this season’s hottest hue – mint. These shapes are softer, garments more detailed and, in my opinion, the collection is far more wearable as a whole.
The pieces in this collection are intricate and delicate – the beading, sequins and embroidery on each gown work to tell a story as the fabric moves. And many of them have now earned a place on my wish list.

Styling of the show was simple – no jewellery and plain strapy sandals so as not to draw away from the complexity of the gowns. Hair and makeup kept with the uber feminine theme – sleek locks elongated with Show Pony hair extensions and dark eyes to add a sense of mystic.
The evening and collection were very romantic as a whole and Alex Perry again demonstrated his versatility and understanding of the female form.
